About a month until we head to Costa Rica!

It's almost here!  We can't wait for the wedding, and the weekend so we can spend time with everyone.  We have about 30 confirmed guests!

You are welcome to join us in additional activities over the weekend.  If you have any questions, please let us know!  The activities planned for the weekend are as follows:

6/30/11, Thursday:  Welcome party at Sueno del Mar, then barhopping in Tamarindo. Estimated to start around 7:00 pm.

7/1/11, Friday morning: Ziplining tour for those who are interested. Transportation will be provided from Sueno del Mar, pickup will be at 7:15 am. The tour consists of 11 cables, for a total of 2km and the longest cable is 560mt. It takes 2 to 3 hours, depending on how many people are in the tour. Reservations need to be made ahead of time but you can pay the day of the tour, although you need to notify them at least the day before if there is any cancellation or change. If you would like to go on this activity, email info@CanopyPuraAventura.com. The zip line tour is $50 per person.

7/1/11, Friday evening:  Wedding rehearsal ( for wedding party) and rehearsal dinner (all are invited)

7/2/11, Saturday:  Wedding ceremony at 4:00 at Sueno del Mar on Playa Langosta, immediately followed by cocktail hour.  Reception, dinner, and dancing to follow at Seasons restaurant in Tamarindo.  Transportation will be provided from the ceremony site to the reception site.

7/3/11, Sunday:  Catamaran sunset cruise. The tour starts at 1pm and includes snorkel gear, use of kayaks and fishing poles for trolling, appetizers, and open bar. Reservations need to be made ahead of time but you can pay the day of the tour, although you need to notify them at least the day before if there is any cancellation or change. If you would like to go on this activity, email Keri at info@bluedolphinsailing.com. The catamaran is $75 per person.

7/4/11:  Head home or head to your next destination

Please note that if you are flying out of San Jose, you will likely have to leave Tamarindo the night before your flight and stay the night somewhere closer to the airport.  This is due to the travel time to the airport.  You must get to the airport at least 3 hours before your flight departs, but you may want to give yourself additional time.  Most of the flights back into the US leave in the morning, so to be safe, you should be in San Jose the night before.  Please note there will be a $26 departing tax that you can pay at the airport or take care of before you arrive at the airport.

Reserving Accommodations for your stay

The wedding date is going to arrive quickly!  For those of you that know you will definitely be coming to Tamarindo, I suggest you book your rooms as soon as possible.  Many of the hotels and B&Bs in Tamarindo are fairly small.  In addition, Capitan Suezo hotel is offering a room discount of 20% off the published rates, but only until March 20!  If you want to stay in a location where there will be other wedding guests, as well as being close to the beach and close to downtown, this is a good choice for you.  If you would like a little more privacy in a slightly more intimate setting (also close to the beach), Villa Allegre may be better for you.  Unfortunately, we were not able to secure a room discount with them, but both places do offer breakfast with your stay.  For more information on both of these, please visit the wedding website at www.weddingwire.com/carleyandmatt.

If you do think you want to stay at Capitan Suezo you must send an email to daraya@hotelcapitansuizo.com with the dates you want reserved, the room type you prefer, and mention Matt and Carley wedding/Liquid Weddings to receive the discount.  They will email you a credit card authorization form which you will need to complete and send back to them.  Do not book through the hotel website as this goes through a third party vendor and they therefore cannot offer the discount if you make your reservations this way.

The contract you sign to book the rooms through Capitan Suezo should provide you with the below information, but just so you know their cancellation policy up front for rooms that are reserved through the block:

The 100% of the total amount of the reservation will be reimbursed, if the hotel receives the written cancellation 75 days prior the arrival date. 70% of the total amount of the reservation will be reimbursed if the hotel receives the written cancellation 60 days before the arrival date.  The total amount will be non-refundable if the booking is canceled within 59 days prior the arrival date.

Hope this helps! Let us know when you book your rooms and flights!

Weekend schedule and group activities

We are getting so excited for the big day and hope you will be able to join us for a fun filled weekend.

We are still working on  finalizing the plans for the weekend, but are hoping for guests to arrive in Tamarindo either Wednesday or Thursday.  We would like to plan some group activities such as a canopy tour (zipline) and a catamaran sunset cruise but are curious as to how many of you would be interested in participating in either or both of the activities.  We will have to arrange this before the trip and give a head count.  You can sign the guest book on the wedding website to let me know if you are interested in the activities, and we will also include some information in the invitation when it goes out, hopefully by mid-February.  But for now, here is an estimated itinerary for the weekend:

6/30/11, Thursday:  Welcome gathering at a local bar during the evening

7/1/11, Friday:  Possible zipline/canopy tour in the morning.  Please sign the guest book to let us know if you are interested in this.  We will also include information in the invitation since we will have to book this before the trip.  Estimated cost is $55 per person.

7/1/11, Friday:  Rehearsal dinner during the evening at a local restaurant. All are invited.

7/2/11, Saturday:  Wedding ceremony at 4:00 at Sueno del Mar on Playa Langosta.  Reception, dinner, and dancing to follow at Seasons restaurant in Tamarindo.  Transportation will be provided from the ceremony to the reception.

7/3/11, Sunday:  Possible catamaran sunset cruise with food and open bar.  Please sign the guest book to let us know if you are interested in this. We will also include information in the invitation since we will have to book this before the trip.  Estimated cost is $75 per person.  http://bluedolphinsailing.com/trips.html

7/4/11:  Head home or head to your next destination

We can't wait and hope you are as excited as we are!

Our flights are booked!

Matt and I have made our flight arrangements!   We will be flying into Liberia and then flying out of San Jose on 7/14.  This will give us some time to explore other areas of Costa Rica including Monteverde, Arenal, and Manuel Antonio for the honeymoon.

Let us know when you flights are booked.  As I mention on the wedding website, the Liberia airport is much closer to Tamarindo (only 45 minutes away), and we felt this was worth the additional cost, but do what is best for your budget/time balance.  Let us know what you decide though so we can help you get to Tamarindo.
